Last Sunday we began our Advent series of reflections in All Age Worship which we are taking from Godly Play. It went down really well and we are looking forward to using it more often during the services. They take a different approach to a sermon where rather than telling the congregation what the passage says they draw them into the passage to discover it for themselves.
On Tuesday we helped out at Little Footprints like usual, we made penguins which was good fun. Then in the afternoon we dropped in to Cantref Primary school to see how preparations were going for their Christingle service and arrange some more assemblies. We then helped our Sub-Prior Sarah with some errands and went to the ministry team meeting where we proposed some new services which will be starting in the new year.
On Wednesday we visited Llanfoist Primary School to make some connections and meet the staff as we hope to do some assemblies there. That afternoon we got on with planning All Age Worship and doing some admin. Thursday morning was spent recording the radio show which you can listen to again on our Mixcloud. We interviewed our Prior the Rev’d Canon Mark Soady as part of it and it was good to hear some of his story. That afternoon we took the final shift running the Cards for Good Causes stall at the Church. The following morning I helped to do a stock check as we packed it all away. Unfortunately Amy was ill on Friday and Saturday so I was on my own. I finished off a life size papier mache model of Mary for a life size nativity which is going into Holy Trinity Church.
Saturday afternoon I spent at 7 Corners spending time chatting to the youth and playing checkers with them. I always have a good time here and it is one of the highlights of my week.
I think that is all for this week. Amy shall be blogging next week.
