Food fest is nearly upon us and St Mary’s will be a hive of activity. Firstly we have tea on the vicarage lawn, pop along anytime between 10-4 for a cuppa and some cake.
Amongst the hustle and bustle of all the stalls around the Priory Centre, and the master classes inside you might be wondering where you may find some tranquility about the place.
Well… If you pop inside the priory church itself you’ll find four different prayer stations to offer a time of reflection on food and the scriptures.
Our stations look at:
All that we have and Holy Eucharist – in western society we are privileged to have what we need and more, however there are many in our nation less fortunate than ourselves. At this station there is the opportunity to reflect on what we have, and how as Christ offered up himself for others (as show through Holy Communion) we too can give some of what we have to others.
Fairtrade – do you buy fairtrade products? If not, is there a reason why you don’t? Maybe it’s time to change your shopping habits and pledge to buy fairtrade.
Passion – a place to reflect on who Christ is and the sacrifice he made for us.
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. – John 6:35
Jesus feeds our spiritual needs, take time to light a candle and thank God for the sacrifice he made.
A place to pray for others – come place a stone in the bowl as you offer up your prayers for others.
We hope and pray these stations will help you to engage with Christ this weekend and reflect on how you can use what God has given you to benefit others.
So come along and see us, chat to us and pray with us as we seek a deeper relationship with Christ.
Sam, Amy, Michael and Adrian.
