Believe it or not Christmas is fast approaching and that means that within a month Advent will be here. We as a community have been thinking about how we can help prepare ourselves for Christmas and have a number of events planned to help you slow down over December and think about what it is all about; the birth of Jesus Christ.
On Saturday 5th December at Christchurch, North Street we will be holding an Advent Quiet Day. A chance to spend some time at the beginning of Advent slowing down to focus ourselves on what Jesus’ birth means for us today. The day will begin at 10am and will comprise of a series of short talks and times to reflect and pray, there will be a break for lunch together and we hope to finish at 4pm.
Tuesday 8th December will be our Christmas Tea Party; mince pies, cake, mulled wine along with music and some board games. This comes out of our Tea and Games afternoons which are aimed at the older generation but anyone is welcome to attend. You’ll find us between 2.30 and 4pm at St Mary’s Vicarage.
Saturday 19th December looks like a busy day. Along with Christmas Crafts in the Priory Centre between 10 &12, we will be holding a Christmas Fun Day at Holy Trinity Hall, Baker Street. This will run from 12-2pm and is aimed at those of Primary School age. There will be fun, games and lots of laughs all whilst digging into what Christmas is all about. The walking Nativity will be set off from Holy Trinity at 3 so feel free to stick around for that too if you like.
And finally along with all of the above we will be theming the Advent All Age Worship services around key characters of the Old Testament and how they point us to Jesus so do come along to those; every Sunday 3pm St Mary’s.
We will be releasing more information about all of these events on here a bit closer to the time so do keep an eye out.
